Hi I’m Wendy!

I’ve wanted to work with women having babies for as long as I can remember. I recall, when I was a little girl and watching the original movie ‘Cheaper By the Dozen’ (originally made in 1950). I was smitten. I wanted to be around children. I wanted to have 12 of my own until reality hit, and I ended up having three children not 12!

In my era, the hippie influence, Lamaze and CEA encouraged women to have children without medication and it inspired me. I birthed my second and third children without medication.

After my third child, I started teaching CEA Childbirth Classes. Through that exposure, I had the privilege of attending a few births. Some in the hospital, some at home, a cesarean, a home breech and one out in the middle of nowhere with no electricity! I loved each and every one of them.

I have always been in love with childbirth! Being in the hospital or at home. One of the births I went to was in the hospital and a Doula was there. In the end after a beautiful baby boy was born, I was told that I should be a Doula. Ten years later, I decided to go to school to be a Doula full time. I then decided to get as much experience as possible under my belt so I started interning at South Coast Midwifery. I completed this training in September 2021 and had the honor of attending multiple births.

My goal as a Doula is to guide the birthing mom and her coach to be the best possible partners in childbirth. I’m not there to judge or take over. I will be there as a calming doula to make your birthing experience as comfortable as possible.

It’s my honor!

Doula Wendy
